Aqua-Guard Co-Founder and Family Sleep Out to Support Homeless and At-Risk Youth

Vancouver, BC – On February 19th, Nigel Bennett, Co-Founder of Aqua-Guard Spill Response Inc., along with his wife Rieko and sons Dylan and Devon, once again gave up the comfort of their beds to sleep outside in solidarity with Metro Vancouver’s homeless and at-risk youth as part of the Covenant House Vancouver Sleep Out: Champions Edition.

This marked Nigel’s tenth year participating and third year as event chair. Together with 131 community leaders, including his sister Sue and brother in law Garry,  the group raised an incredible

$364,455.31

to support Covenant House Vancouver and the youth they serve.

The evening was powerful—and cold. Temperatures dropped to -4°C, and sleep came in short, restless stretches on thin cardboard.

“It was tough—cold, uncomfortable, and humbling,” said Bennett. “But we were safe. We could go home. Many of the youth we support don’t have that choice.”

A Message of Gratitude

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Because of you, our Sleep Out truly made a difference.

That night reminded us how fortunate we are. We had safety and support—so many youth do not. They face the cold and uncertainty night after night, alone.

Because of you, fewer youth will have to endure that reality.

Your generosity provides warmth, shelter, counselling, care, and hope through Covenant House Vancouver.

If you feel called to support further, donations remain open through the end of March.

Thank you for standing with our youth.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Nigel, Rieko, Dylan & Devon
